Rudy

Recently Rudy got into buddhism. He was therefore looking for an altar: “I chant at an altar, that holds my Gohonzon. The Gohonzon is the holy text of buddhism, written of a paper scroll that I got at my initiation.” He found a lovely small cabinet of Estilo Amsterdam Meubelstudio.

Unfortunately the price was above his budget. I went to his house and Rudy explained the rituals he would do at the altar. And he explained he wanted it to be light (in all aspects) and, above all, fine and pretty. At my next visit, I presented three different ideas for the design. He had a very clear preference for one of these ideas. He later made some minor alterations that made the altar somewhat more basic.

I used maple wood because of its color. Cherry was used for some details, as the Gohonzon came in a cherry wood box.
