church committee

I made a lectern for a church. It also has a pulpit, but nowadays quite a part of the service is not done from there. They needed a nice lectern for this.

During my first visit to the church I noticed a pedestal underneath the pulpit. It used to be the pedestal of the baptismal font. It seemed a good idea in many ways to give this element a new life in the church.

A trial mounting for four different people of the church, gave some hesitation among two of them. They were afraid of the pedestal being too "heavy" and the top too delicate. So, the top needed volume. Others found a seperate microphone stand disturbing, which gave the idea of integrating a mic in the lectern.

In the end everyone is satisfied, even the more critical members of the church. The height is adjustable. Part of the 'wings' then follow, while another part does not move.
